Are you an experienced HR leader with a passion for creating an equitable and inclusive workplace? We're looking for a Vice President of Human Resources to join our senior leadership team and drive our mission forward. Based in Evanston, IL, this role is key to shaping a positive and high-performing workplace culture, enhancing employee experience, and implementing our vision for equity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership (20%)
Develop and execute human resources strategies and policies aligned with our mission. Partner with the senior leadership team to provide insights and data-driven recommendations that impact employee experience. Lead the HR team with vision and strategic direction, focusing on building an equitable workplace and enhancing employee engagement.
Talent Acquisition and Retention (15%)
Create and implement DEI-focused recruitment and hiring strategies to attract and retain diverse talent. Develop and oversee robust onboarding processes and performance management systems to foster continuous employee growth and retention. Manage succession planning to ensure smooth leadership transitions and support diverse leadership development.
Organizational Culture and Engagement (15%)
Lead organizational change initiatives and prepare leadership to support cultural transformation. Promote a positive and equitable work environment that reflects our core values. Champion employee recognition programs and align people and culture strategies with organizational goals.
Learning and Development (15%)
Design and implement professional development programs that support anti-racist learning, mutual care, and high performance. Ensure tracking and recording of staff training and certifications to support ongoing development.
Employee Relations and Compliance (10%)
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment. Address employee concerns and conflicts effectively. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and manage updates to the employee handbook to reflect equity and organizational fit.
Compensation and Benefits (10%)
Collaborate with the CEO and finance team to set and oversee equity-focused compensation and benefits strategies. Ensure consistent application of compensation structures and manage benefits administration.
Supervision (10%)
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing HR team. Provide regular feedback and support, recognize achievements, and ensure adherence to high standards of service delivery. Stay updated on technology and advocate for staff needs to leadership.
Additional Duties (5%)
Participate in staff training, agency committees, and pursue professional development opportunities. Adhere to organizational policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or a related field. A graduate degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years in senior HR roles with at least 5 years focused on advancing organizational equity. Experience in change management and supervision is required.
Certifications: SPHR or SHRM-SCP required. Completion of Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training Certificate within 6 months of starting is necessary.
Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, intermediate experience with HRIS, and strong leadership capabilities. Familiarity with online job posting platforms is a plus.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to perform duties at a desk/computer for prolonged periods.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift up to 10 pounds.
Must be able to operate controls for computers and other equipment.
Working Environment:
The role may involve sharing office space or working from home.
