Job Summary

The student assistant will work with the Communications department as part of the Communications Student Media Team. This person will help promote the college by shooting and editing for both traditional and social media channels. This is an office-based 19-hour/week position, reporting to the executive director of Public Relations and the director of Digital Communications.

Responsibilities
  • Film assigned events on campus.
  • Identify stories and contact/interview subject matter experts (SMEs) for videos.
  • Edit videos according to established standards.
  • Submit video drafts on or before deadline.
  • Other duties as directed.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in six credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
  • Must be enrolled in the internship class.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a good academic standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good standing with the Office of Student Integrity and maintain good standing for the duration of employment.
  • Knowledge of social media apps such as Instagram and TikTok.
  • Enthusiasm for the video production process.
  • Understand the importance of deadlines and adhere to them.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments at the same time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in filming video with a cell phone.
  • Involvement in campus organizations.
  • Familiarity with Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
