The ENDO/GI Center at Somerville Hospital helps patients with a variety of digestive disorders. It includes a state-of-the-art endoscopy suite with four procedure rooms. Some of the procedures we perform include the following: Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy, ERCP, 24 hour PH Monitoring, Capsule Endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Esophageal Motility. The Endoscopy/Gastroenterology nurse knows and understands the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of nursing service. Clinical nursing leadership at Cambridge Health Alliance is manifested by personal commitment, accountability, and initiative in clinical practice. Patients are our priority. It is the clinical nurse who assists patients to reach their health care goals.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The main purpose of the Endo/GI nurse is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates standards of nursing practice. The role of the Endo/GI nurse is to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document patient care in a professional manner. The GI nurse will demonstrate the ability to provide care in procedural, pre-and post procedural, and clinic settings.
Qualifications//Education/Certification:
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Current Massachusetts RN license in good standing required.
American Heart Association/American Red Cross BLS required.
American Heart Association ACLS certifications required
ABCGN Certification is preferred.
Minimum 2 years current experience as an Endoscopy RN required, experience with administrating moderate sedation and recovery required.
Good interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work with detailed confidential material.
Experience with EPIC documentation preferred.
