Gwinnett County's Department of Water Resources is currently recruiting to hire a GIS Intern for the Infrastructure Support / Data Management group. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills; Have experience with ESRI GIS software, preferably 10.x and/or ArcGIS Pro 3.x; creating web maps and dashboards using ArcGIS Online; editing in a geodatabase environment and producing GIS presentation maps for management or the general public; be familiar with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Cartographic principles; experience with the Microsoft Office Professional and Adobe suite of programs. $18.59 per hour, 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,560 hours per year. Essential Duties
  • Digitize new water, sewer and storm water infrastructure based off as-built drawings and the collected GPS points.
  • Interpret and assess spatial information for accuracy and completeness
  • Design, create and prepare maps for DWR management and public use
  • Collect and process data collected on Trimble GPS units
  • Organize and categorize GIS information; creates data layers
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
Grade
The grade for this position is 97. Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have completed at least one year of college and be working towards a certificate or degree in Geographic Information Systems or related field
  • Available weekdays between the hours of 8am - 5pm, 20 hours per week
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to meet requirements to operate a Gwinnett County vehicle
