Job Description

Cleveland Hill UFSD is seeking a high-energy individual that is passionate about middle level education. Candidates should have knowledge of standards-based classroom instruction and be committed to collegiality and collaboration. The candidate must demonstrate unquestionable integrity and a firm belief in the worth and potential of all students.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES MUST: Assist the principal, faculty, staff and students in creating a positive school culture that leads to improved student learning.and achievement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a New York State Administrator & Supervisor certificate or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of successful experience as a classroom teacher (middle level experience is preferred) or administrator is preferred
  • Knowledge of current educational practices, research and applications

  • Provide leadership and work effectively with staff members, colleagues, parents and others in the educational community
  • Use creative problem solving and decision making skills to provide a positive learning environment resulting in continuous improvements for students and staff
  • Speak and write clearly and effectively

JOB DUTIES:

School Administration

  • Work to sustain a positive school climate and culture that allows students to flourish
  • Assist in the coordination of daily functions of the school
  • Serve as Building Principal in the absence of the regular Principal
  • Assist in the supervision and evaluation of instructional and non-instructional personnel in the Middle School
  • Assist with all organizational and planning duties related to the smooth operation of the school
  • Supervise students (including in the hallways, lunch room, arrival and dismissal)
  • Assist in carrying out disciplinary procedures as established by the District and/or building
  • Utilize effective PBIS techniques while developing a positive school climate and ensuring students comply with the District's Code of Conduct
  • Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and behavior
  • Collaborate with building principal and district administrators in budget preparation and determining staff needs
  • Serve on district and building level safety teams

Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

  • Assist in screening, interviewing and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions
  • Actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the instructional program
  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing curriculum, methods of instruction and effective use of tests and measures
  • Facilitate reflective instructional practices through dialogue with staff as part of the Professional Performance Review process
  • Coordinate MS Summer School Program
  • Participate in district and building level curriculum meetings and provide leadership in curriculum decisions
  • Be a contributing member of the PBIS Tier 1, Tier 2, and Shared Decision Making Teams
  • Participate in teacher professional development sessions
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of staff development initiatives
  • Provide training to staff for staff development initiatives when appropriate
  • Assist the principal in the preparation, administration and scoring of all New York State assessments
  • Participate and lead data analysis meetings
  • Develops systems to routinely assesses and monitors student progress

Communication and Community Relations

  • Effectively communicate information to staff, students, families and the community
  • Participate in District-wide planning initiatives
  • Maintain communication with families through conferences, phone calls, newsletters and the MS website
  • Work with families to improve student attendance and tardiness
  • Build relationships with community members through attendance at school and district events
  • Places an emphasis on student achievement and social-emotional well-being as the primary outcomes of school
  • Provide presentations to the Board of Education and PTSA

Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent.
