Position exists in General Services at Porterville Developmental Center.
Performs a variety of duties and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing assigned tasks. The position requires public and employee contact and correspondence involving the knowledge of and application of regulations, policies, and procedures. While not giving direction, refers all issues and complaints to General Services Supervisors. Use good judgement, maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively. Performs duties consistent within a mail room operation and organization, pick up mail, sort, delivery and distribution of all incoming and outgoing facility mail and or packages. The position requires basic understanding and basic knowledge of postal regulation laws of incoming and outgoing United States and other carrier mail. Conducts day-to-day business while following procedures and chain of command is of primary importance.Individuals interested in applying must take and pass the Office Technician (Typing)examination to obtain list eligibility. TYPICAL WORKING C ONDITIONS: Ongoing interaction with personnel and the general public. Position requires prolonged standing, sitting, lifting heavy boxes/items, extensive use of mailing machines, telephones, computers, and office equipment. Some contact with clients.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement. Electronic application submission is highly encouraged.
