We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary
Dominion Energy has an opportunity available to join the Fuel Performance and Dry Storage (FPDS) group as an Engineer II or III .__The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. As a Fuel Performance Engineer in the Fuel Performance and Dry Storage group, you will plan, coordinate, and execute activities associated with nuclear fuel performance. These activities include verification of design, fabrication, and analysis methods, and evaluation of the performance of the nuclear fuel and related reactor core components, such as control rods and burnable poison rods. Duties also include developing fuel manufacturing surveillance plans, fuel inspection and repair plans, providing support during plant outages and other fuel project activities, procurement of core components, special nuclear material tracking, and oversight of fuel vendor activities, including design and manufacturing process changes. This individual will have responsibilities in the areas discussed above for the entire Dominion nuclear fleet. The successful candidate will interface with department staff, station management, and nuclear fuel vendors, as well as INPO and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff.
Job Responsibilities :
Performance of fuel rod design analysis to support core reload design and nuclear unit operation
Disposition of nonconforming new and irradiated fuel and insert components
Routine fuel performance evaluation including reactor coolant system activity monitoring
Writing fuel move sheets to track Special Nuclear Material
Technical support and program management for irradiated fuel inspection programs
Trending of grid damage, fuel failures, and other anomalies
Performance of fuel manufacturing surveillance
New and irradiated fuel inspections
Support for Dry Storage loading campaigns
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
Engineer II must have 3+ years of relevant engineering experience; Engineer III must have 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;
Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position;
Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;
Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;
Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);
Planning, organizational and project management skills;
Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;
Effective decision making skills;
Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;
Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.
REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA:
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technologyand a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

Required discipline(s): Engineering, Nuclear preferred
The preferred candidate will have: Experience in nuclear fuel design, manufacturing, or performance. Knowledge of nuclear fuel design criteria, the core reload process, and nuclear fuel vendor activities. Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory and engineering principles. Nuclear station experience and related plant systems knowledge. Ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions in a time-critical environment. A demonstrated professional orientation, and an ability to lead, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, and work effectively either in teams or independently under own initiative.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description
For Nuclear purposes only: ANSI 3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1 ( must be documented on form HR-AA-101)
Education: Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or related science (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Engineering Technology acceptable if all other pieces of the third prong of the Required Engineering Criteria listed in KSA section are met).
Minimum Experience for the position:
Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 yr.
Note: Years of experience in job summary exceed the ANSI requirement for related experience (3+ years required for Engineer II).
