About the job:

VLP team members provide dog walking & pet sitting in Denville, Morris Plains, Randolph, and the surrounding areas for the Viva La Pet client base.

Continuing in that spirit:

• You must be good at managing details. We personalize our clients' care to their dogs’ exact needs. We have many instructions for each dog/cat/lizard/etc. that we work with, and you have to be able to follow those instructions to the letter.
• You need to have dog handling, walking, and pet care experience. We work with many different kinds of pets. You must bring a demonstrated ability to walk dogs and care for animals.
• You need to have excellent time management skills. Our team members have anywhere from 1 to 7 appointments a day. Sometimes, they are scheduled back to back, and other times, they are not. You must be able to manage your time accordingly.
• This job is designed to be part-time and provide supplemental income. 
• You must communicate well, both in written form and spoken. You must be willing to communicate with a sense of urgency through texts, calls, and our app. We are in the business of giving people peace of mind, and we expect a high degree of clarity in communication to our clients and team.
• You must be a person of integrity and honesty. Our core values are care, communication, honesty, reliability, and consistency. These must be characteristics that you already possess in your daily life.
• As long as it is safe to do so, we walk dogs and travel in all four seasons. 

Those best suited for our team:

Candidates seeking a fun part-time job that will provide supplemental income. We also appreciate people with flexible availability and can step up when we have last-minute changes and client requests.

• Open availability between 11am and 3pm repeated weekdays for daily dog walking.
• Open availability to visit our clients homes for 30 minutes between 7-9am, again between 2-4pm, and again between 8-9pm for pet sitting .

This is probably the most fun you will ever have with a part-time job. As fun as it is, since 2004, Viva La Pet has been an award-winning pet care business.  We have high expectations regarding attendance and punctuality. Our clients rely on us to provide care for their pets.

The details:

• Our daily dog walking positions (Monday-Friday) on average start at 1-3 walks per day (unless you are taking over a book of clients from a previous walker).
• We have a culture of helping out team members and encouraging team members to pick up extra work as wanted and needed, so 4-7 walks per day are possible in time.
• You can take as little as three walks per day or as many as eight. It's totally up to you, but you must commit to a recurring weekly schedule.
• Our  pet-sitting positions require us to visit our clients three times per day (morning, late afternoon/early evening, and again at bedtime) while they are out of town.

Compensation:

$20 - $22 / hour (based on 30-minute walks paid at the rate of $12 per visit, plus gratuity and bonuses)
$800 - $1200 / month (based on your availability, performance and client demand)

• Smart work and travel will lead to higher pay rates per hour.
• Compensation increases based on performance and longevity. 
• This work will be performed as an independent contractor.

We strongly prefer that all staff live within an 8-mile radius of the towns we service to be considered (Morris Plains 07950, Denville 07834, and Randolph 07869).
