Requirements:

• Successful completion of a formal dental assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association (ADA), or equivalent military dental assistant training.
• Certification: Dental assistants must have certification for radiography if required by the state.
• Experience: Prior experience in a dental clinic or office is preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in dental software and familiarity with dental instruments and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support to dentists in the delivery of dental care.
• Perform chair-side assistance during dental procedures.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure the operatory is clean and meets the clinic's cleanliness and infection control standards.
• Take, develop, and mount dental radiographs.
• Maintain patient records and manage appointment scheduling.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-procedure care.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Commanding Officer, such as working at the appointments desk, performing Central Sterile Supply functions, and participating in command quality improvement and assurance meetings.
