Position Overview The Solar Construction Coordinator acts as the owner's on-site representative and is responsible for the on-site observation and reporting of all aspects of the construction process, essentially the "eyes-and-ears" of the owner at the project site. This person applies his/her practical construction experience to diligently oversee the project and accurately and consistently report on the progress, challenges and/or inconsistencies. This position requires 50%-75% travel to project sites and reports to the Construction Representative Manager.
General Responsibilities - Pre-construction: Conduct constructibility reviews and review design sets for feedback/input
- Quality Control: Observe and inspect construction to ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and contract documents; assist with site audits; oversee project quality assurance program and monitors contractor quality control program for proper implementation; perform material quality and quantity delivery checks
- Progress Monitoring: Observe and report on all field teams and installation progress; process monthly contractor pay applications; coordinate with local utilities for establishing accounts and service connections; coordinate with rPlus operations management on schedule for project site visits
- Communication: Attend and contribute to weekly project meetings; review submitted project schedules, with an eye to possible inconsistencies; participate in design review meetings; assist with processing contract change orders, review of contact documents and facility commissioning program
- Safety: Monitor contract safety program for appropriateness; receive and maintain on-site plans and permits; facilitate schedules for permit inspections; maintain OSHA and solar installation knowledge to monitor compliance with building and safety codes
- Change Management: Support the development of recommendations for project specific change orders; monitor performance of contractors in the execution of the change orders
- Close Out: Monitor tracking of commissioning reports, utility interconnection obligations and testing reports and assist with transitioning project from under construction to operational
Skill Requirements - 1-4 years of experience in general contractor/construction management, with a strong track record of successful project delivery; PMP Certification preferred; Electrician/Electrical training preferred
- Maintain current necessary certifications: OSHA 30; EM-385 certification as issued by the Corp of Engineers; CPR and First Aid
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software; working knowledge of project management software
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; fluency in Spanish a plus
