Job Description

Job Summary:

The Catholic Musician will provide high-quality musical support for Catholic worship services at Fort McCoy. This role involves accompanying and leading the congregation in traditional and liturgical music, participating in rehearsals, and coordinating with the Religious Support Office (RSO) to enhance the worship experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide music for Catholic Mass and special services, including preludes, postludes, offertory, and communion.
• Lead congregational singing and accompany hymns, choruses, and spiritual songs on piano, keyboard, or organ.
• Participate in rehearsals with the choir or music ensemble as scheduled.
• Collaborate with the RSO to plan and prepare music for services.
• Adjust tempo and style to encourage congregational participation.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. copyright laws and all applicable chapel regulations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a musician in a religious worship setting (waiverable based on review).
• Proficiency in traditional and liturgical music styles.
• Ability to play piano, keyboard, or organ at an advanced level.
• Experience working with choirs or small music ensembles.
• Strong understanding of Catholic liturgical music and worship practices.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.

Work Schedule:

• Weekly Catholic Mass on Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
• Special services as scheduled (up to 18 per year).
• Rehearsals as coordinated with the Religious Support Office.
• Must be available for occasional evening, weekend, and holiday services.

Security and Access Requirements:

• No security clearance required, but subject to background checks for base access.
• Must comply with Fort McCoy’s security and safety policies.
