Job Title: Associate Attorney
Location: Naperville, Illinois
Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year
Overview: We are seeking a highly determined Associate Attorney with experience in worker's compensation, employment law, public sector law, civil litigation, insurance defense, or business litigation to join our growing legal team in Illinois. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, research, and litigation skills, and a proven track record of managing diverse caseloads efficiently. This is a full-time position offering competitive compensation and benefits.
Responsibilities:
* Worker's Compensation:
* Represent clients in worker's compensation claims, including attending hearings, mediations, and trials.
* Conduct thorough investigations and gather evidence to support claims or defenses.
* Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
* Employment Law:
* Advise clients on employment law matters, including compliance with state and federal regulations.
* Handle cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and other employment-related disputes.
* Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and handbooks.
* Public Sector Law:
* Provide legal counsel to public entities, including municipalities and government agencies.
* Handle litigation and administrative hearings involving public sector clients.
* Advise on issues related to governance, public records, and regulatory compliance.
* Civil Litigation:
* Manage a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters, from inception through resolution.
* Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs.
* Represent clients in court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
* Insurance Defense:
* Defend clients in insurance-related claims, including personal injury, property damage, and coverage disputes.
* Develop and implement effective litigation strategies.
* Work closely with insurance adjusters and clients to manage claims.
* Business Litigation:
* Represent businesses in commercial disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, and other business-related claims.
* Conduct depositions, discovery, and pre-trial preparations.
* Provide strategic legal advice to clients on business operations and risk management.
Qualifications:
* Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
* Admitted to practice law in Illinois and in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in worker's compensation, employment law, public sector law, civil litigation, insurance defense, or business litigation.
* Strong understanding of Illinois state and federal laws relevant to the practice areas.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
* Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
