Your Opportunity
Our Rochester, NY office is looking for an architectural student attending college or university for architecture. This is a summer Architectural Internship design role. At Stantec we design with community in mind, and you will have an opportunity to be enrolled in our company wide intern development summer program. In this program you will join a diversified team of your peers guided by our experienced architects and engineers as you collaboratively work together on a community enriching project. You will work on tasks with close guidance and direction from a Senior Designer or Architect. You will be working on projects specialized in space programming and site planning, as well as developing elevations, sections, and architectural details with the rest of the team. You will be assisting with innovative and creative new prototypes, design with sustainability in mind, and attend building site visits and client interactions. The development of AXP credits is a fundamental principle for Stantec Architecture and being an active member of our team will help you achieve licensure through the breadth of your experience.
Your Key Responsibilities
Conduct basic interpretations of sketches, drawings, codes, building program and other similar material.
Support project team in development of design documentation.
Assist in the development of a design through sketches, 3D models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
Utilize BIM technologies in development of 3D models of buildings and their components.
Assist in research of concept, benchmarks, materials, typology, and precedents.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Basic understanding of how to use technology as a design tool.
Ability to develop sketches and communicate visual concepts and ideas to others effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
Requires understanding of 3D modeling software including, but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, Rhino, SketchUp.
Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Education and Experience
Working toward bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture or related field and in their third or fourth year of a Bachelors program or in a Master’s program with previous work experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Salary Range(s):
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
